It's the first official blog and vlog of Trace Jarell Travels. If this blog or any of my short clips on social media has reached you and lead you here. WELCOME!!!!!
I am officially focused on creating relatable and fun content for my travel business and vlog. I hope that you guys decided to stay with me every step of the way and enjoy my traveling content. Who knows I maybe planning your next fun trip. Before my ADHD fully kicks in and I get completely off track let's get into my experience with my sons on the Gateway Clipper Fleet on the last beautiful warm Saturday morning of August.
My late partner Duane and I try to give our sons memorable experiences and show them things that we either experience or didn't get to experience growing up. Duane has been on the Gateway Clipper numerous times and guess how many I have? If you guessed zero you are correct. Lol. With all the bills paid, and the boys finishing a complete full week of school. They are in middle school and high school. I decided we needed to do something fun and different, something we never did before.
I wanted to do something fun but not where I had to do a lot of moving around, relax and enjoy the City of Pittsburgh. My sons travel more outside of their hometown Pittsburgh than I ever did at their age, and I know they have experience and seen a lot of cool things. I knew I had to bring my A game to impress these boys. I searched and decided on the Gateway Clipper Fleet. Now for some people who are born and raised in Pittsburgh who experience the Gateway Clipper numerous times in their life it's just a boat ride, but to some it's a cool experience. Trace and And Cj are handsome nerds that enjoy learning history.

What a better way to have fun and learn something new about their hometown Pittsburgh? I book three tickets for me and my little humans to aboard the Gateway Clipper. Now my youngest Trace was not easily convinced at all getting on the boat and being out in the open water cruising the rivers. I was surprised to be honest because two years prior he was all about the Titanic and the history behind the ship. I even took him to the now Kamin Science Center when they had the Titanic exhibit and he loved it. I bought toys and even watched that movie again. After a few pep talks and corny mom jokes Trace was ready to get on the boat.
We arrived a bit earlier than the other guest so we had time to sit at the tables and see all three big beautiful Gateway Clipper Fleets, the one we were riding on was the Queen. Trace and Cj were amaze by the cute carps that came to greet us when we walked across the mini bridge. Maybe fifteen minutes after we had arrived super early for our ride more , guests and workers began to arrive. Before we knew it, my mini me's and I were boarding the Queen to go sightseeing along Pittsburgh's three rivers: Allegheny, Monongahela, and Ohio. My sons and I sat on the second level, in the front of the Queen at a table where we could enjoy our snacks and the views while learning facts I never knew about the 412.
All aboard after everyone is a board it's time to float or cruise! The narrator did a excellent job sharing history about Pittsburgh as the warm sun beamed and a nice warm summer morning breeze filled the air and my sons gulped down their snacks from the snack bar on the first level of the Gateway Clipper. That offer a variety of snacks from chips to candy and different types of sodas aka pop, water, juice and alcohol beverages. I usually go for a good martini but remember it was a morning ride. As we cruise the rivers and I listen to the narrator share the story how Andy Warhol once said some not so nice things about Pittsburgh, I couldn't help but fall in love again with the city that I was raised in. The views from the beautiful golden bridges to the now Acrisure Stadium and Kamin Center ....I grew up calling it Heinz Field and Science Center lol made me remember how beautiful Pittsburgh really is and that I need to get back into exploring the 412 Pittsburgh area again.
